BANGOR City’s exodus continued with the departure of four senior squad members.

The Huws Gray Alliance confirmed that Marc Williams, Yalany Baio, Sameron Dool and Anthony Stephens have all departed for JD Welsh Premier League clubs in a bid to make the wage structure more sustainable long-term.

Former Colwyn Bay and Llandudno standout Williams has joined Aberystwyth Town, after enjoying a tremendous spell of form for the Citizens of late.

A Town spokesman, said: “Aberystwyth Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of experienced and wily Welsh Premier League striker Marc Williams from Bangor City.

“Marc has spent periods with Conference sides Wrexham, Chester, Northwich Victoria and Kidderminster Harriers and has been capped for Wales at U17, U19, U21 and semi-professional levels.

“Aber's fans will most recently remember Marc for his spells with Llandudno and Cymru Alliance outfit Bangor City. Known for his prolific goal scoring record, the front man made 86 appearances for Wrexham between 2005 and 2011, scoring 17 goals in the process.”

The Chronicle understands that Baio and Dool are set to join Llandudno’s survival fight under Iwan Williams in the coming days, with the talented Stephens poised to sign for either Connah’s Quay Nomads or Bala Town after turning down an offer from Maltese side Mosta.

There was some good news for City’s beleaguered fanbase as gifted forward Sam Jones has signed an extension at the club.

The former U19 product has been making his presence felt in the second tier so far this term.

General Manager Luke Purcell, said: “I sat down with Sam pre-season. We set targets that we both felt were achievable and he could build on.

“After scoring 40 goals for the U19s last season we both felt it was time that he made an impact in the first team. It was important that targets for appearances and goals scored were set.

“You find a lot of young players are happy to be in and around it. Sam is too good for that.”
