LLANDUDNO Amateurs closed the gap on Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division leaders Llansannan with a resounding 6-1 win at Machno United.

The title hopefuls moved to within ten points of Gari Evans and Tom Lewis’ side thanks to another clinical display, and they crucially have four games in hand on their championship rivals which would see them move two points clear should they manage to win every game.

Despite the eventual result it was the home side who struck first courtesy of a Dion Lloyd effort after ten minutes, but this was met by a swift response from the Amateurs in the form of a Joe Jones finish.

Things got even better for the visitors soon after when Mike Lauchlin put them ahead for the first time, and they doubled their tally when Jones pounced for his second of the afternoon with 33 gone.

After the break saw the away side all-but seal their ninth victory in 11 league contests when Ben Murphy converted a chance on 67 minutes, with Scott Court’s powerful drive adding a fifth with 72 on the clock.

There was still time for further goalmouth action, which came three minutes from time through Dean Hughes to round off the scoring.
