BIG changes are coming to the Rhyl FC boardroom after managing director Mike Jones announced he is leaving his post at the end of the season.

The popular figure has been at the forefront of the Huws Gray Alliance side for eight years, but he has decided to relinquish his position due to increasing work commitments in the social services industry.

The Lilywhites confirmed that long-standing volunteer and club director Adam Roche will take over at the end of the current campaign, with the new appointment working closely with Jones in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition this summer.

After this transition period, Jones will continue to play an active role leading on the club’s Domestic Licence application and promoting the Supporters Liaison role.

Roche has worked in the retail sector for 30 years, starting his career in store at the Co-op in 1989. He has worked in many roles from store, regional and since 1999 in national management roles based at the Co-op’s head office in Manchester, where he is currently leading their priority multi-million-pound transformational change programmes.

A club spokesman, said: “Adam’s leadership and commercial experience will be a huge benefit to Rhyl Football Club as it looks to reach the former heights of years gone by.

“Away from work and supporting Rhyl FC, he also loves watching his son Dylan playing football alongside other family activities with his wife Hayley and daughter Ellie.”

Jones leaves the Lilies’ with a lasting legacy, brining stability to the club after the financial problems of 2009/2010 and after a period of rebuilding in the second tier, they enjoyed four seasons in the JD Welsh Premier League, coming close to European Qualification and reaching the semi-finals of the Welsh Cup.

He also played a key role in transforming the facilities at the ground, which has enabled the club to host many high-profile games in recent years, in addition to securing a host of important sponsorship deals with PRS Group, Cartrefi Conwy, Corbett Sports and Educate Group.

The club are also looking for new volunteers to aid with all areas of the club, and any interested parties should contact Mr Roche via email at adamroche@rhylfc.co.uk.
