PRESTATYN Sports remain on course for a top six finish in Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One after a superb 3-1 home win over Llanberis.

Mark Hughes and John Hargreaves’ side have enjoyed a fabulous first campaign operating in the third tier, and they turned in another formidable display at their Gronant base for their tenth victory in 20 league outings this term.

The ambitious side are now level on points with seventh-placed Greenfield with two games in hand ahead of their home clash with title chasing Bodedern Athletic on Saturday (2.30pm).

The hosts began the contest with a sense of purpose, and they broke the deadlock on 21 minutes when Dean Hyland maintained his outstanding recent run in front of goal with a neat finish.

Things got even better for Sports’ soon after when Tom MacDougall put away a chance following a prolonged spell of possession on 33 minutes to give the home side a comfortable cushion at the interval.

After the break saw the hosts presented with an opportunity to further extend their cushion in the opening exchanges, and Kris Owen kept his composure to hit the target and all-but seal with points with 48 on the clock.

The visitors did manage to get a consolation immediately following the restart when Adrian Huws converted what turned out to be their only goal of the game, with Sports seeing out the remainder of the game with minimal fuss to make it seven wins out of ten on home soil.
