BLAENAU Ffestiniog Amateurs’ Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two title hopes were dealt another hammer blow as they were held 2-2 at home by Penmaenmawr Phoenix.

The Quarrymen have lost momentum at just the wrong time and now find themselves two points behind Glan Conwy having played two games more than their championship rivals.

They got off to a flier in Saturday’s clash and went ahead on two minutes through Iwan Jones, but they were pegged back on the quarter hour mark when Daniel Williams levelled matters with a neat finish.

The home side restored their advantage immediately following the restart when Iwan Griffiths converted a chance on 16 minutes, but Ethan Jones was on hand to equalise yet again on 35 minutes to ensure both sides went away with a share of the spoils.

Aberffraw’s fine recent form continued as they came from behind to secure a 2-1 home triumph over Holyhead Town.

The visitors drew first blood in fortunate circumstances when Andrew Jones diverted into his own net on 57 minutes, but Aber picked themselves up and netted twice in the final 15 through Gareth Hughes and Jones to seal the points.

A stoppage time penalty from Gruff John rescued a point for Y Felinheli in their 2-2 draw at Gaerwen, with Mark Jones, James Burgess and Dewi Thomas on target for Llannerchymedd in their 3-2 success over Amlwch Town.

Marquis Holland and Iwan Williams were in ruthless form for Pentraeth, hitting a brace apiece to contribute significantly to their 5-0 home rout over Meliden.
