LLANDUDNO fought hard to pick up another point in their battle for JD Welsh Premier League survival in a 2-2 draw at Cefn Druids.

The long-time basement dwellers demonstrated plenty of character once again to come from a goal down on two occasions to salvage something from the contest, and Mark Cowan’s side will look to build on their impressive recent league form when they entertain Aberystwyth Town on March 22.

Things did not begin well for the visitors, who fell behind after just six minutes when former Bangor City striker Dean Rittenberg took advantage of some space to steer an effort past Shaun Pearson.

This provoked a strong response from Tudno, who almost levelled on 17 minutes when loanee Ben Clark flashed a strike narrowly wide, with Rittenberg smashing the post with another chance at the other end with 18 gone.

Gradually the away side began to see more of the ball, and they were rewarded for their improved play on 35 minutes when the pacey Alun Webb produced a fine effort into the corner to restore parity to the score-line.

After the break saw the Ancients’ get a goal ruled out for offside on 47 minutes, and Wales C international Kai Edwards saw his powerful header come back off the woodwork during a frantic start to the second period.

Huw Griffiths’ side did mange to get their noses in front yet again shortly after when Jack Kenny took advantage of some hesitant defending to despatch past Pearson.

This joy proved to be extremely short lived as Tudno equalised immediately following the restart when recent signing from Bangor City Sameron Dool finished off a fine team move to ensure the visitors had something to show from a spirited display and keep their top flight survival hopes intact for another week.
