PRESTATYN Sports were unable to cause a stir at the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One summit as they were beaten 4-0 at Llandudno Albion.

Mark Hughes and John Hargreaves’ side were unable to cope with the constant barrage of attacks from the current pacesetters, leaving them in seventh position in the standings with six games remaining in what has been a very successful first campaign operating in the third tier.

The home side got their noses in front midway through the half when prolific forward Peter Jones took advantage of some space to finish well, and the same player was on hand to double their advantage just before the break with another well-taken effort with 40 on the clock.

After the interval saw talisman Ricky Jones continued his exceptional recent run of form with a superb strike to all-but seal the points on 57 minutes, and Sports were dealt another blow when Jones capped off another marvellous display with his hat-trick with 72 gone.

Albion missed a host of opportunities to add to their tally in the closing stages, but the visiting rearguard held firm to ensure the score-line retained some respectability even though they had nothing to show for their efforts on the day.

Hughes and Hargreaves’ men will be hoping for better fortune when they next take the field on Saturday during their trip to Greenfield, who come into the game on the back of a 4-0 win over Llandyrnog United.
