ST ASAPH City were unable to derail Llangefni Town’s Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title charge in a heavy 8-1 loss on home soil.

The Saints have been in good form of late, but they were no match for Chris Roberts’ promotion favourites in what turned out to be a very disappointing day at the office, with the defeat leaving Daniel Brewerton’s men sitting in eighth spot ahead of their trip to Llanrwst United on Saturday (2.30pm).

Things did not begin well for the home side as Matthew Jones hit two in the first 15 minutes, with a brace from in-form striker Liam Morris on 37 and 40 giving Cefni a comfortable cushion.

There was still time for the visitors to net once more before the break, and once again it was Morris who was the beneficiary of some neat build-up play to seal his hat-trick.

The home side started the second period well and notched a consolation through Josh Brown on 55 minutes, but this joy proved to be short-lived as Town struck on 57 when Harry Galeotti broke clear and produced a composed finish.

Jones capped off an excellent individual display with a treble of his own with 73 on the clock, and Sean Pritchard prodded home from close range late on after reacting first to a penalty miss with three minutes remaining to cap off a miserable afternoon for the Saints.
