LLANDUDNO Albion remain on the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One summit following an impressive 4-0 home win over Prestatyn Sports.

Darren Jones’ men have been riding on the crest of a wave since the turn of the year, and they are now six points clear of Llangefni Town having played six games more than their championship rivals.

The home side got their noses in front midway through the half when prolific forward Peter Jones took advantage of some space to finish well, and the same player was on hand to double their advantage just before the break with another well-taken effort with 40 on the clock.

After the interval saw talisman Ricky Jones continued his exceptional recent run of form with a superb strike to all-but seal the points on 57 minutes, and Sports were dealt another blow when Jones capped off another marvellous display with his hat-trick with 72 gone.

Albion missed a host of opportunities to add to their tally in the closing stages, but the visiting rearguard held firm to ensure the score-line retained some respectability even though they had nothing to show for their efforts on the day.

Although the games in hand might prove to be telling, Albion can take plenty of heart from their recent displays that have seen their aspirations surge following an indifferent start.

Llanrwst United heaped more misery on basement dwellers Llandudno Junction with a narrow 1-0 home triumph.

A solitary Callum Parry effort was enough to give the Rwsters’ all three points, with the Railwaymen now braced for a second consecutive relegation.
