COLWYN Bay Reserves have a chance to end the season with silverware after a 3-0 Lock Stock Fireworks Challenge Cup semi-final win at Prestatyn Town.

The young Seagulls booked their final berth following a hotly contested affair between the coastal rivals, but the hosts almost went ahead on two minutes when Callum Jones was denied a shot on goal by a latch ditch tackle.

This proved to be telling as the Seagulls got their noses in front with six on the clock when Jordan Carrington’s steered in a powerful effort following a corner that gave keeper Scott Williams no chance.

The visitors were coping better with the difficult weather conditions during Friday evening’s tie, and they doubled their advantage after 17 minutes when Frankie Arkwright finished well after some outstanding approach play from Adam Whitlock.

Town responded well to the latest setback and almost got back into the game when Lewis Roberts went close just before the break, with Adam Wright flashing a shot just over following the break with 53 gone.

The visitors had a golden chance to seal the contest on 72 minutes when they were awarded a penalty, but Williams was at his brilliant best to divert the attempt and the subsequent rebound.

With Town throwing everything at the Bay rearguard in the closing stages, they were undone by a quick counter-attack on 89 minutes which resulted in Jake Parkes notching a third when he diverted a quality Greg Hall delivery into the corner to round off the scoring.
