COLWYN Bay have made significant additions to the boardroom ahead of their proposed move back to the Welsh pyramid system.

The Seagulls announced that club sponsors Dave and Brian Titchiner have been appointed to director positions, with the former returning to the fold after stepping down as chairman earlier this season due to ongoing health issues.

The club have also revealed that current assistant manager Neil Coverley will be their new director of football from the start of next season.

Chairman Bill Murray stated that Coverley will continue in his assistant ole under boss Craig Hogg for their remaining Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One West, with the duo transforming the fortunes of the club in a short space of time.

Coverley made more than 200 appearances for the Seagulls during his playing career, and he has also turned in a series of fine displays this season as an emergency centre-back due to squad shortages.

The former skipper also represented Crewe Alexandra, Kidsgrove athletic, Leek Town, Rhyl and Llandudno, and he was part of the Unibond Division One side that reached the play-offs in 2007.

Club officials formally submitted an application to the Football Association of Wales to make a dramatic return to the domestic game following a 30-year absence, which will apply competitive league and cup competitions for the 2019/2020 campaign.

Murray will be making a further statement “once the application process has been concluded”, with a decision on their specific league allocation set to be made on March 29.

The Bay hierarchy voted in favour of a switch from the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One West, with an outcome of 91,600 votes for Wales and 55,624 to remain in England on what would be a greatly reduced budget.
