TWO talented young skiers added to their outstanding list of recent accolades with a prestigious competition victory.

Xavier Poynton and Cameron Pye, Year 3 and 5 pupils at Rydal Penrhos Prep School, were part of the Rossendale Ski Club that took part in the Pendle Winter Series, which saw them compete against other sides from the region to determine the overall winner.

The final leg of the competition took place earlier this month, with the Rossendale squad managed to secure six wins from the final leg, which was enough to see them take home the U10 series crown in hugely impressive fashion.

The team achieved 25 first place finishes out of a possible 26 races, and it is the latest in a long line of considerable achievement from both Xavier and Cameron in recent months.

Alison Hind, Head of Rydal Penrhos Prep School, said: “This is a tremendous and really notable achievement from Xavier and Cameron, who have both worked incredibly hard to secure the series title with their Rossendale teammates.

“Both possess an enormous enthusiasm for skiing and have demonstrated a tremendous natural talent and an ability to progress and get better with each session or competition they take part in.

“Our skiing provision at Rydal Penrhos has really thrived in recent years and the programme is in very safe hands with Xavier, Cameron and other outstanding skiers within our Prep School.”
