LLANDUDNO Athletic’s promotion hopes remain intact after a resounding 5-1 home win over Llanfairfechan Town.

The Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division side turned in another exceptional attacking display to move to within six points of second-placed Llansannan with two games in hand.

They also boast a superior goal difference thanks to their resounding success, and victory in their final two fixtures against Machno United and Old Colwyn would be enough to secure runners-up spot.

The home side made a strong start to the contest and went ahead on 15 minutes when Allan Davies finished well, and they managed to double their advantage soon after when another neat passage of play saw Nathan Williams hit the target.

After the break saw Athletic all-but seal their success when Jamie Moorhouse convert an opportunity just five minutes following the restart, and another fine spell of possession presented a chance to Lee Stokes with 65 gone, and he made no mistake to make it four for the hosts.

The visitors did manage to net a consolation on 70 minutes through Iwan Jones, but Athletic would have the final say as McKenzie Slaven found the corner two minutes from time.

Next up for Athletic is a chance to claim their second piece of silverware of the season on April 26 when they meet Abergele in the JT Jones Presidents’ Cup final at the home of Huws Gray Alliance side Denbigh Town.
