PRESTATYN Town concluded an eventful Huws Gray Alliance campaign with a 2-1 loss at Flint Town United.

The Seasiders were unable to hold on to an early advantage and had nothing to show for their efforts against the Silkmen, who secured second spot in the standings thanks to another standout season under Niall McGuinness.

A huge summer off-the-field now beckons for Neil Gibson’s side, with new chairman Neal Colakoglu outlining a detailing a plan that is expected to see them challenge for promotion next term.

Despite the eventual result it was the away side who drew first blood when a towering header from Aaron White on seven minutes gave them an early advantage after a fine delivery from Ben Maher.

Visiting stopper Ryan Roberts had to be alert on 11 minutes when he diverted a near post effort from Andy Brown, with experienced defender Dave Hayes heading off the line from Tyreek McCallum a minute later during a prolonged spell of pressure from the hosts.

Their persistence finally paid off on 34 minutes when talented forward Mark Cadwallader fired past Roberts at the near post after latching on to a Jake Hampson cross.

The same player almost put United ahead straight from the restart, but Roberts was equal to the effort this time, with returning striker Ian Griffiths forcing Aaron Jones into a smart stop in the final stages of the first period.

After the break saw both sides cancel each other out for the most part, but the crucial moment arrived on 74 minutes when Hampson produced a stunning header that put the home side ahead for the first time in the contest.

A Luke Blondel chip almost doubled their advantage on 85 minutes, with a long-range strike from Macauley Taylor the closest Town got to restoring parity to the score-line late on.
