STORM Hannah played havoc with the weekend’s cricket fixtures involving the region’s sides.

Not a single ball was bowled as heavy rain and winds decimated the calendar during the second week of the campaign, with Colwyn Bay’s Liverpool and District Competition Premier Division encounter with Orrell Red Triangle at Penrhyn Avenue abandoned without play.

Sion Morris men turned in an encouraging display during their opening day draw at Lytham thanks to strong contributions from Paul Jenkins, Ryan Westwell and Adam Campion, and they will look to build on this positive momentum at New Brighton on Saturday.

Llandudno’s North Wales Cricket League Premier Division trip to Gresford also brought no play due to the weather as they prepare to welcome Brymbo to The Oval on Saturday, with Mochdre unable to build on their exceptional win at Connah’s Quay in their first season back in the top flight as their game against Northop also fell victim to the weather.

Matty Humphries’ men will be hoping for more favourable weather ahead of their trip to Pwllheli on Saturday, with Conwy entertaining Bersham after their clash at Gwersyllt Park was also cancelled.

Another team left without any play were Llanrwst United, who were without play at Mold and they will now begin preparations ahead of their hugely important derby clash against Abergele at Gwydir Park.
