A TALENTED young golfer recorded another incredible milestone at a recent competition.

Richard Wolfendale, a Year 11 pupil at Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay, hit a hole-in-one during a round at North Wales Golf Club in Llandudno, which is a first for the aspiring star in a competitive setting.

The Middle School standout secured the accolade with a stunning approach shot at the 17th hole at the Llandudno course, and he watched as his shot found its way into the hole at the first opportunity.

This is the latest in a long line of successes for the pupil, who has developed his game considerably under the watchful eye of Ian Richardson and other coaching staff at the Academy.

Richard has recorded some outstanding results in recent months as his handicap continues to plummet, which included the overall nett title at last year’s ISGA Northern Open and the Simon Robertson and Collins Trophies at Rydal Penrhos’ Golf Academy partners at North Wales Golf Club.

Allen Boyd, director of sport at Rydal Penrhos, said: “This is one of the most sought-after milestones that any golfer aspires to achieve, and for Richard to do this at such a young age is a testament to how much ability he has.

“He is a very studious pupil who is thriving academically, but he has also discovered a real talent on the golf course that has ensured some really positive performances and overall results during his short but very promising career to date.”
