COLWYN Bay have made more additions to their squad as they ready themselves for a return to the Welsh domestic system next season.

The Seagulls announced the arrival of former Glossop North End skipper Matty Russell, who made 40 appearances for the Hillmen last term, scoring right goals.

He started out at Manchester City and his other previous clubs include Curzon Ashton, where he helped them reach the second round of the FA Cup, beating Exeter City in the first round, and also to the league play-off final.

Manager Craig Hogg, said: "Matty is someone who we have been aware of for some time and impressed during the last campaign. He will be joining us from Glossop where he was captain and one of their stand out players last term. We are really looking forward to working with him.

“He is 30 years old, a great athlete, has really good quality and a vast amount of football experience - I feel those qualities will be very important to us moving forward in Welsh domestic football. We are delighted he’s decided to come in and be part of the journey."

There was further cause for celebration as defender Will Bell has joined skipper Tom McCready, Andy Coughlin and Darren Thornton in extending their stay with the club for the 2019/20 season.

The popular figure was an ever-present in the squad last season and received the Directors’ Player of the Year accolade at the Bay’s end of season presentation evening.

Bell, said: “I’m really pleased to commit to Colwyn Bay. Last season was a really good one to be involved in and I fell in love with football again.

“I’m looking forward to working with the gaffer, the management team and the lads and want to play my part in the club’s future back in Wales.”
