LLANDUDNO picked up their first win of the North Wales Cricket League Premier Division season with a 25-run home success over Brymbo.

A half century from Danial Evans and a standout bowling display from skipper Jack Rimmington had a significant impact on the overall result, and the Lions will look to build on this momentum when they travel to defending champions Menai Bridge on Saturday.

Despite losing Sam Rimmington (8) and Luke Kenworthy (1) to Daniel Parry strikes early on, a strong partnership from Matthew Jones and Evans put the home side back in the ascendancy before the former was trapped lbw by Mohamed Jayman for 33.

Evans demonstrated his immense shot selection until he played a Parry delivery into the hands of Danny Monk on 53, with Jack Rimmington (2), Ethan Hill (4), Kevin James (0) and Daniel James (3) out cheaply soon after.

No other Lions’ batsman made it into double figures as they were all out for 137, with Parry ending a fine bowling spell with figures of 4-17.

Things did not look good for the hosts early on as valuable contributions from Gareth Pugh (24), Jayman (35) and James Claybrook (26) put the away side in a commanding position.

That was as good as it got for the visitors, with Rimmington, Jones and Evans taking over proceedings with a sensational tandem bowling performance that resulted in Brymbo’s middle and lower order completely decimated on their way to 112 all out.

The skipper took four wickets for the loss of 20 runs, with Evans and Jones helping themselves to four scalps at the expense of 48 to further aid their side’s cause.

There was no such luck for Llandudno’s second unit, who fell to a 23-run reverse at Bethesda.
