LLANDUDNO manager Matthew Jones has wasted no time in approaching targets as he looks to restore stability to the club.

The Pioneer understands that the Tudno boss has targeted Conwy Borough defender Gerwyn Jones as a top target for their return to Tier 2 North, with the centre-half enjoyed a standout first half of the season for the Tangerines last term.

Despite the interest, acquiring Jones will not be easy as a wealth of different clubs from across the region are in pursuit of his signature.

Jones took over from Gary Taylor-Fletcher during a turbulent week for the club, with the former Premier League star stepping down from his post after just two days due to a supposed conflict of interest.

Securing the services of the defender would represent a significant coup for Tudno during a difficult period of transition, with a host of senior squad members looking to depart for new challenges following their demotion.

Gerwyn Jones was Borough skipper until late in the season before injury and unavailability hampered his contribution.

The new appointment also tried to sign Jones during the January transfer window when joint-manager of Denbigh Town, who were relegated from the second tier under Jones and Dewi Llion.
