LLANDUDNO rounded-off an incredible campaign with an 18-11 North Wales Cup victory over fierce rivals Nant Conwy.

The Goats were looking for their second piece of silverware of the season after clinching the WRU National League Division One North crown, but they fell behind early on when Delwyn Jones despatched a penalty on five minutes.

Dudno responded in kind with a successful free-kick from former Nant player Arthur Lennon on 11 minutes, and the same player was on hand with another penalty to give them the lead for the first time with 19 gone.

A physical encounter saw both sides given yellow cards following a scrappy series of infringements, with Nant going into the break all-square when Jones despatched his second penalty of the afternoon to leave the final nicely balanced at the interval.

The second period began in stylish fashion for the Goats, who regained the initiative on 55 minutes when a sweeping passing move presented a chance to Dan O’Sullivan, who burst down the touchline before crossing the white wash.

This put Dudno fully in the ascendancy and they were rewarded for another outstanding spell of pressure on 69 minutes when RGC scrum-half Cameron Davies demonstrated some quick-thinking to penetrate the Nant rearguard for their second touch down of the tie. Lennon added the extras.

A nervy ending to the final was assured on 78 minutes when Nant finally dotted over the try-line courtesy of Ifan Jones, but the double-winners saw out the remainder of the game with minimal fuss to end a historical campaign on a high.
