COLWYN Bay have confirmed the signing of highly touted young prospect Morgan Owen.

The 18-year-old was a member of Llandudno's development squad before signing for Glan Conwy, and the hometown hero helped his side to a memorable promotion thanks to their Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two title triumph last weekend.

Owen comes highly recommended by Seagulls’ assistant Mark Orme, who captained him at Glan during the season before deciding to hang up his boots and move to the dugout.

Manager Craig Hogg, said: “Mark has worked with Morgan recently and has also followed his progress very closely. Both Mark and I feel that he has a great deal of potential.

“We met with Morgan and his father this week and together we all feel that Colwyn Bay is the right environment for the young man, especially at this stage of his football development.

"The plan now is to aid Morgan with his football education and to see what personal targets he can achieve whilst he is in our care.

"We hope that he will benefit from the consistent training programme we have here within our first team set up and that he will also benefit from working with the other players we have here now.

"I’m pleased he’s now part of our first team squad and I’m really looking forward to working with him."

Hogg’s squad is nearing completion as they prepare for a return to the Welsh domestic system at Tier Two North level, where they are expected to be competing with the likes of Flint Town United, Prestatyn Town and Rhyl and fir title and promotion to the JD Welsh Premier League.
