LLANDUDNO have received another major boost after goalkeeper Shaun Pearson has agreed a contract extension at the club.

The talented stopper arrived at the Giant Hospitality Stadium last summer following a hugely successful spell at Holywell Town, and he made 28 JD Welsh Premier League appearances for the relegated side.

Pearson has opted to remain at Tudno as they prepare to make a return to FAW Tier Two Northern Championship level, with Caernarfon Town among those that were linked with the player in recent weeks.

Manager Matthew Jones, said: “I am really happy to have Shaun staying at the club, he's an experienced and top-quality goalkeeper."

"I think this is another big piece of business for us as we look to rebuild and move towards the new season.”

Pearson, who has also represented Airbus Broughton, Colwyn Bay and Barrow during his career, is the second squad member to extend their stay after talisman Danny Hughes agreed to extend his stay despite numerous offers from elsewhere.

The goalkeeper’s brother Mike is set to move on to pastures new, with The Pioneer understanding that the former Wales C international is poised for a move to Caernarfon Town.

"I'm really looking forward to the season ahead after what was such a disappointing season last year,” added Pearson.

"It's a new team and a new feel about the club, hopefully we can start the club's transition back to the Welsh Premier League sooner rather than later."
