LLANRWST picked up their third North Wales Cricket League Division One victory in succession with a 33-run home success over newly promoted Ruthin.
The Rwsters’ produced a significant performance with the bat thanks to a stunning century from Scott Thomas, who smashed no fewer than 18 boundaries before he eventually played a Jac Evans delivery into the hands of Duncan Roberts after making a staggering 136.
He was aided considerably at the other end of the crease by Huw Williams, who was trapped lbw by Llyr Williams ten short of his half century, with 58 of the home side’s runs coming from extras.
Williams picked up two wickets for the visitors for the loss of 56 runs, with Sandeep Anantharaman and Jamie Hulse also securing braces from their respective spells.
The hosts were made to work hard for their win thanks to a sterling display in the middle from a Ruthin batting attack that narrowly fell short, which was led by a 50 knock from Sion Hughes.
Harry Pooler (39), William Jones (25) and Evans also managed to aid their side’s cause considerably after promising starts, but this was not enough to salvage something from the game as they finished their 50 overs on 228-9.
A standout bowling performance from Lee Thomas saw him take four wickets for the loss of 43 runs, and the Rwsters’ will look to make it four on the bounce this Saturday when they travel to Llay Welfare.
