TWO former Conwy schoolboys are awaiting their fate after securing European qualification with a JD Welsh Premier League side.

Rhydian Morgan and Guto Williams, both aged 19, are set to embark on a Europa League qualifying adventure with Cardiff Met following their impressive playoff win at Bala Town to close out the top-flight campaign.

The duo came through the Academy ranks at Llandudno and Bangor City during their time at Ysgol y Creuddyn, before moving on to university where they linked up with Dr Christian Edwards’ side.

Both Morgan and Williams played a leading part for the Archers’ throughout the season, which also included a sensational victory at Caernarfon Town, who finished fourth in the overall standings.

This is the first time that the student side has secured qualification to a European tournament, something that is set to give them a £200,000 windfall regardless of whether they progress any further in the competition.

They will find out their fate during the first preliminary round draw on Wednesday, with Morgan also on target for the side last year as they retained their British University and College Sport (BUCS) league title with a 3-2 triumph over Hartpury College.

The squad enjoyed a rest of just two weeks before pre-season training began in earnest, with their UEFA tournament campaign officially starting later this month.

They will play their home qualifying tie at Leckwith Stadium, which was used primarily as the base for Pontypridd Town last season.

It also hosts Cardiff City’s U23 and U18 sides, in addition to their women’s set-up.
