THREE talented skiers from a Colwyn Bay school added to their list of outstanding accolades with a prestigious national championship.

Ben Davies, Chay Bonnington and Keira Bonnington travelled to the Chill Factore in Manchester, where they tested their skills against the best young talent in the country at the British Schools Open Indoor Championships.

The Rydal Penrhos School trio managed to perform exceptionally well throughout, with Chay coming up with a big second slalom to enable the team to finish first overall in the mixed category, one point ahead of Bridlington School.

This represents a significant achievement for the school’s skiing provision, which has gone from strength-to-strength in recent years.

All three have achieved a wealth of regional and national successes in high-profile competitions during their time at the school, developing their skills considerably in the process.

Allen Boyd, director of sport at Rydal Penrhos, said: “This represents another significant achievement for our skiing provision, which is another exciting opportunity we offer to our Prep and Senior pupils here at Rydal Penrhos.

“Ben, Chay and Keira can be enormously proud of their performance at such a coveted national competition, and the experience will give them a great confidence boost as they go in search of further achievements in the future.

“They all represented Rydal Penrhos in a really positive way and can look back on their accomplishments with real pride.”
