PRESTATYN Sports have confirmed a series of friendly fixtures ahead of their second season operating at Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One level.

The club announced three home pre-season games at their Gronant base as part of their intense conditioning and training programme to ensure they hit the ground running this time around.

First up is a visit from Failsworth Dymanos on July 20, before they welcome Ellesmere Port Town on July 27.

Sports will conclude their preparations on August 3, with Coedpoeth United sure to provide another stern test for the squad.

They begin pre-season training on June 18 and will be looking to make another significant impact within the third tier despite a host of changes to the backroom staff during a busy summer to date.

Long-standing joint manager Mark Hughes has stepped down from the role due to increasing work and family commitments, with Sion Williams chosen by the club’s committee to fill the void and work with John Hargreaves.

Williams was a standout goalkeeper for the club before retiring in 2018, but he has remained part of the set-up within its committee and received a glowing recommendation from the departing Hughes prior to his resignation.

Steve Roberts and Ian Dunn will assume leadership positions as joint managers of Sports’ newly formed reserve side, with the former having represented them as a player and has also taken on the role of chairman during the set-ups incredible rise to prominence.

He will be joined in the dugout by Dunn, who is another that has enjoyed a trophy-laden career with Sports and featured a significant number of times in a hugely successful first season operating at third-tier level.

The club are also looking for friendly fixtures on July 6 and 13 to complete their pre-season schedule, and anyone wishing to secure one of the dates can do so via their Facebook page.
