CONWY Borough have bolstered their midfield options with the signing of Rob Jones.

The experienced figure has become the latest to sign on at Y Morfa for Russ Williams and Warren Gibbs’ men, with Jones already achieving a considerable amount at second tier level.

He has won three titles in the newly named FAW Tier 2 North League with Connah’s Quay Nomads and Caernarfon Town, where Jones won the double under Iwan Williams and played a leading role in their success.

Jones also enjoyed a hugely successful spell with Bangor City, which culminated in a Europa League qualification berth after a memorable triumph over fierce rivals Rhyl in 2014, with resulted in a tie against Icelandic outfit FC Stjarnan.

The midfielder’s most recent stint within the division was with Holywell Town, where he made double-digit appearances during the second half of the campaign that resulted in the Wellmen’s relegation to the Welsh National League after Bangor City’s 42-point deduction was halved.

The news comes as a major boost to the Tangerines, who lost influential trio Anthony Hughes, Dean Seager and Bryan Roberts to nearby rivals Llandudno since the season concluded.

Dynamic midfielder Tomos Clarke has joined the club from Holyhead Hotspur, and prolific striker Corrig McGonigle turned down a host of offers to sign an extension.
