CONWY remain in control of North Wales Cricket League Division One after a convincing six-wicket home success over Gwersyllt Park.

The long-time leaders are now 20 points clear of second placed Dolgellau in the standings following their latest victory, and they restricted Park to 174 all out from 48 overs at the crease.

Lewis Cole contributed some much-needed runs from the middle order after a difficult start for the visitors, with the all-rounder eventually removed by Rajjenu Britto on 36.

Other notable efforts came from Ryan Collier and Harry Archer, who made 33 and 19 respectively, and captain Lee Beer made a promising 15 before he was despatched by Graham Boase, who ended a superb 12-over spell with figures of 3-16.

Britto also helped himself to three wickets for the loss of 35 runs, and Graham Meredith picked up three scalps at the expense of 48.

The home side’s run chase began strongly with a good knock of 34 from Britto, and opening partner Shaun Davies was at the top of his game to all-but secure victory for the title hopefuls.

The all-rounder hit 12 boundaries before he was run out by Cole on 75, and a 37 not out score from brother Danny Davies enabled the hosts to reach their required target with ease after 30 overs of play.

The championship favourites will be looking to pull further clear at the summit this Saturday when they visit struggling Bersham, who remain rooted to the basement despite a weekend win over Abergele.
