A SENSATIONAL bowling display from Alwyn Williams guided Llanrwst to a three-wicket home victory over Mold.

The Rwsters’ standout was in exceptional form throughout his eight-over spell, turning the game on its head on his way to seven wickets for the loss of just 16 runs.

This playing a huge role in the overall outcome of the contest, with Williams claiming the prized scalp of Usman Butt for 27 during a crucial stage of the innings.

Only two other Mold batsmen made it into double figures, with Richard Crane and Max Lloyd making 15 and 11 respectively as the visitors were skittled for 88 after 40 overs.

Another notable bowling performance came from Lee Thomas, who finished with 2-26 from a 12-over spell, and Huw Williams claimed a solitary victim in the form of Crane.

Despite being set a modest total, the North Wales Cricket League Division One side made hard work of their eventual triumph, which was down in no small part to a knock of 33 from Jack Hughes from the number three position.

Huw Williams made 17 during what was an otherwise disappointing time in the middle for the hosts, but Thomas (10*) and Berwyn Hughes (2*) managed to get them over the line for the loss of seven wickets and with plenty of overs to spare.

Llanrwst now sit in eighth spot in the standings ahead of their trip to struggling Abergele on Saturday.
