A BROTHER-sister skiing duo added to their list of accolades at a high-profile regional competition.

Chay and Keira Bonnington, Year 9 and 12 pupils at Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay, took their place in the field at the North Wales Ski Championships, which were held in Runcorn recently.

The talented pair were in tremendous form throughout their respective runs, with Keira emerging victorious in the U18 girls’ category following another rousing effort.

This is the second big title that the Sixth Former has won in recent weeks, with Keira also scooped the U18 girls’ title at the British Indoor Championships.

There was further cause for celebration thanks to the performance of Chay, who demonstrated his strong potential on the dry slopes to finish top of the podium in his respective age group.

He was also part of the Rydal Penrhos team that struck gold in the team event at the British Indoor Championships, rounding off another hugely encouraging academic year of achievements from the siblings.

Nicky Head, head of physical education at Rydal Penrhos, said: “Chay and Keira have played a leading role in the recent achievements of our skiing provision here at Rydal Penrhos, and their consistency in a competitive setting is a testament to their preparation and willingness to get better on a daily basis.

“It was a very successful North Wales Championships for our Prep and Senior squads, which all bodes very well for the future.”
