ANOTHER tremendous bowling display from Alwyn Williams guided Llanrwst to a seven-wicket win at Ruthin.

The in-form bowler was at the very top of his game for the North Wales Cricket League First Division outfit, claiming no fewer than six wickets for the loss of 23 runs from a seven-over spell.

Williams has now taken 40 per cent of the Rwsters’ wickets so far this term with 36, which have come at an average of just seven and a strike rate of 14.5.

Scott Thomas was another bowler to catch the eye as he disposed of the opening partnership of Dafydd Roberts and Michael Parton for two apiece on his way to figures of 2-10, leaving the home side all out for 59 from 32 overs in the middle.

Things looked nervy for the visitors early on in their run chase as Thomas (10), Jack Hughes (7) and Nathan Jones (6) were all dismissed cheaply, but an unbeaten 26 from skipper Aron Hughes enabled the away side to reach their modest target with minimal fuss after 16 overs of play.

Llanrwst have the chance to assist neighbours Conwy in their championship pursuit this Saturday when they welcome Llay Welfare, who sit in second spot and 12 points behind the long-time leaders.
