BRO Cernyw booked their place in the JT (Charlie) Jones Presidents’ Cup second round with a convincing 6-0 home success over Penrhyn Bay Dragons.

The Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division side made light work of their lower division opponents with a polished attacking display, which saw them break the deadlock with just six on the clock thanks to a neat finish from Ioan Roberts.

The was followed by another midway through the half as Carwyn McFadden rounded off an impressive team move on 28 minutes to double their advantage, but Bro were unable to dd to their tally for the remainder of the first after spurning a host of good opportunities.

They were far more clinical after the interval to the detriment of a spirited Dragons’ display, and once again it was Roberts on hand to make the most of some hesitant defending on 57 minutes to despatch his second of the contest and all-but secure his side’s second round berth.

This seemed to open the floodgates and Bro took full advantage to increase their cushion on65 minutes thanks to an Osian Roberts effort, and John Gardner also got in on the act immediately following the restart with the home side’s fifth of the tie with 68 gone.

There was still time for the hosts to rub further salt into the visitors’ wounds, with their final goal of the contest on 82 minutes through Ianto Roberts to conclude a thoroughly professional day at the office for the ambitious squad.
