ABERGELE were unable to increase their lead at the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division summit after they were held to a 3-3 draw at Llansannan.

The championship hopefuls had to settle for a share of the spoils after a thrilling conclusion to the clash saw Tom Lewis’ side snatch a late leveller, leaving unbeaten Gele two points clear of Rhuddlan Town having played two more than their title rivals.

The visitors got off to a strong start and went ahead after just nine minutes when Connor Atkinson found the net, which was enough to give them a slender cushion heading into the interval.

After the break saw the home side grow more into the game and they were rewarded on 55 minutes when Geraint Jones continued his fine run of recent form with another well-taken attempt with 54 on the clock.

Things got even better for the hosts soon after when they got their noses in front for the first time on 64 minutes thanks to a Euros Lloyd strike following a sustained period of possession.

This joy proved to be short-lived thanks to a sensational passage of play from the visitors midway through that half that resulted in them firing two goals in the space of a minute through Jack Hoult and Atkinson on 68 and 69 minutes.

That looked to be enough to give a Gele a vital three points in their quest for the crown, but they were undone at the death when veteran marksman Jones despatched his second of the afternoon to ensure both sides had something to show from a hugely entertaining affair.

Bro Cernyw moved into fourth position thanks to a thrilling 6-4 home triumph over Llanelwy Athletic.

A brace apiece from Robin Hughes and Lloyd Hubbard did the majority of the damage, with Ianto Roberts and Ioan Roberts also on target for the home side.

Newly promoted Athletic put up a significant fight before eventually falling late on, but goals from Kevin Rickard (2) and Ste Kirk were not enough to salvage something from the contest.
