LLANSANNAN advanced to the NWCFA Junior Cup third round thanks to a 3-0 home win over Bro Cernyw.

The Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division side picked up another impressive triumph against their derby rivals, with striker Geraint Jones extending his exceptional run of recent form with a ruthless display in front of goal.

Tom Lewis’ side began the game on the front foot, and they were rewarded on 20 minutes when Jones took advantage of some hesitant defending to break the deadlock with a neat finish.

The veteran forward was the difference-maker once again for the hosts on 39 minutes when he doubled their advantage thanks to another eye-catching strike following a period of sustained pressure.

After the break saw the visitors up the tempo as they looked for a route back into the tie, but they were unable to take advantage of any of the opportunities that came their way during a crucial period of the contest.

The home side were handed a golden chance to book their place in the hat when they were awarded a penalty on 70 minutes, and Jones powerfully despatched the spot kick to secure his hat-trick and complete the scoring.

This enabled the hosts to see out the remainder of the encounter with minimal fuss, leaving Lewis’ side’s hopes of securing multiple honours at the end of the campaign very much intact.
