PRESTATYN Town’s exceptional run of consecutive victories came to an end with a dramatic 3-2 loss at Penrhyncoch.

The JD Cymru North leaders saw their lead reduced to four points following their second loss of the campaign, with Flint Town United managing to secure a 1-0 success at Gresford Athletic.

Town will look to bounce back at the earliest opportunity this weekend when they make another difficult looking trip to Guilsfield.

Midfielder Robbie Hughes went close for the away side on two occasions during the opening exchanges, and they were made to pay for his lack of end product on 12 minutes when Ifan Burrell put away his opportunity to give the Roosters’ a shock lead.

Kai Edwards, Ben Maher and Jordan Davies were all frustrated in their attempts to secure an equaliser following the restart, with a stunning tackle preventing Ian Griffiths from a certain goal a minute before the break.

After the interval saw Hughes spurn a pair of good chances before the former Connah’s Quay Nomads player teed up Davies inside the box, who had the simple task of prodding home from close range on 57 minutes to restore parity to the score-line.

This was followed by another for the visitors on the hour mark when Rhys James unfortunately diverted into his own net to give Neil Gibson’s side the lead for the first time.

The home side dusted themselves off and levelled proceedings on 71 minutes when a superb striker from Steffan Davies flew past Ryan Woods, and the Roosters’ picked up three points right at the death when Steffan Gittins made the most of the space afforded to him for a dramatic winner four minutes into added time at Cae Baker.
