RHYL and District moved back to the Specsavers National League Division Two North summit with a 24-8 home victory over Colwyn Bay.

The promotion chasing Dragons’ produced a determined display to come away with the points against a spirited Bay outfit in difficult conditions, giving them plenty of confidence ahead of their upcoming derby trip to rivals Abergele on December 28.

The home side picked up where they left off last time out and went into the break with a four point cushion thanks to a pair of tries from Jack Hughes and Reeve Wright, but the visitors kept themselves in the contest with an unconverted score and a penalty during the first period.

After the break saw the hosts further impose themselves on proceedings thanks to some physical play from their dominant pack, and this brought with it two more tries during the second half to see them emerge as comfortable victors.

This time it was Bob Davies and the outstanding Tom Williams who proved to be the difference between the two sides, each adding to their respective tallies this season with a score apiece to put the result beyond doubt.

Richie Williams managed to fire two conversion attempts to complete the scoring, but there was no such luck for the Dragons’ second unit, who were heavily beaten 41-15 by Bethesda 2nds.
