ABERGELE’s unbeaten Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division record came to an end with a 2-0 loss at Bro Cernyw.

The title contenders were unable to claim anything from the contest for the first time in 13 games, leaving them six points behind current pacesetters Rhuddlan Town having played a game more than their championship rivals.

They have the perfect chance to get back on track during their next outing on Saturday at basement dwellers Rhos United, who have lost each of their 14 league fixtures so far this season, conceding 55 in the process.

A disappointing opening for the visitors saw them fall behind early on when Richard Parry was presented with a chance on seven minutes, and the player made no mistake with the finish to break the deadlock.

The away side responded well to the setback but were finding it difficult to penetrate the formidable Bro rear-guard in the final third during the first 45 minutes.

After the interval saw Gele’s frustrations continue with a number of missed opportunities early on, and they were made to pay for their lack of conviction in front of goal on 59 minutes when Carwyn McFadden popped up with a crucial second for the home side after a period of pressure.

This visibly deflated the visitors, who were unable to find a route back into the contest late on and their proud record of seven wins and five draws from their previous 12 contests now has a solitary blemish.
