PRESTATYN Town held a special fundraiser during their weekend match against Flint Town United in aid of St Asaph City.

The Seasiders’ asked for donations via a bucket collection for the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One side, which will go towards their clean-up efforts following significant flood damage caused by Storm Ciara.

The generosity of those in attendance during their 1-0 win over JD Cymru North title rivals Flint Town United managed to raise £100 for the cause, which will be added to the ongoing total on a special crowdfunding page for the Saints.

Town chairman Neal Colakoglu presented John Davies with a cheque on Sunday following the collection.

The club’s Roe Plas site saw the changing rooms, playing surface and equipment suffer “substantial” damage after the flooding, which has hampered their plans to meet the new Tier 3 requirements from the Football Association of Wales next season.

Volunteers gathered at the site over the weekend to begin what promises to be a lengthy process to restore the area, and members of the Saints’ squad also donated £550 from their fine kitty in support of the cause.

Miles Todd, owner of 360 Ground Care, had offered his services free of charge to try and get the playing surface back to its normal standard.

Another display of generosity came from Ian Senior, owner of SKkits, who managed to produce brand new first team shirts for the club after their previous attire was damaged beyond repair.

Denbighshire county council have granted City permission to use their 3G facility situated at St Asaph Leisure Centre until the ground is fit for purpose.
