A TEENAGE golfer is using state of the art technology to enhance his game during the coronavirus course closure.

Charley Simpson, who held the position of junior captain at Rhos on Sea Golf Club last year, is currently unable to boost his experience and skills thanks to the social distancing measures implemented by the government to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

He has taken it upon himself to gain some additional skills from the comfort of his own back garden, with the aspiring star taking part in digital online sessions under the tutelage of Sam Griffiths, Head PGA Professional at Wrexham Golf Club.

This will stand the prospect in good stead when he returns to a competitive environment, and Charley has been rewarded for his hard work with some outstanding achievements during the current campaign.

He was crowned Wales U14 open champion after a convincing victory at the national competition, and he helped the Rydal Penrhos Golf Academy retain their ISGA Northern Matchplay Championship crown alongside Adrian Lewis and Reuben Bather.

Charley was named to the Golf Wales Aspire squad last year and impressed considerably to earn selection to the national U16 squad for the prestigious Quadrangular competition.

He was unfortunately denied the opportunity to make his full Welsh youth debut as the event was cancelled due to coronavirus.
