COLWYN Bay defender Will Bell is keen for the domestic football season to resume following the coronavirus fixture suspension.

A preliminary schedule has been devised by the Football Association of Wales to resume playing in June providing it is safe to do so. This would ensure that the JD Cymru Premier, North and South league would resolve matters before a shortened summer break.

Bell, who has been a revelation for the Seagulls’ during their first season back in the Welsh system after a three-decade stay in the English structure, stated clubs had “worked too hard” to see their efforts count for nothing.

He said: “I think we should play this season out whenever that can be done. We're having our break now, so perhaps a small pre-season and then back at it.

“People have worked too hard and a lot of time, effort and money has been invested in the season for it be marked as void.”

Bell has been an almost ever-present for the club this season, missing just two games, and has racked up 69 appearances in a Bay short over the past two seasons.

The personal trainer is currently confined to his home due to social distancing measures implemented by the government to prevent the spread of Covid-19, but he is keeping himself in shape for when competitive action gets back underway.

“Fitness wise I am following a running programme at the moment, using the time to get in more strength, power and speed work which is normally hard to do during the season with so many games and training,” added Bell.

"I am finding it strange as I'm not use to having time off football. Even in the off season I'll play 5-a-side with my mates; so it is a bit mad not being able to play or watch any live games on telly.

"It would be good if they are able to start televising Premier League games behind closed doors as is being suggested. It would give us all something to look forward to and watch.

"Hopefully it is not too long before we can start training together again."
