COLWYN Bay have released two experienced defenders from their squad.
The Seagulls’ confirmed that Darren Thornton and Matty Russell are both now free to find a new club following the possible resumption of the domestic football season in the coming weeks.
Manager Craig Hogg, said: “Both are great lads and have been brilliant servants to the club.
“I thank them for what they’ve contributed this season and everyone connected to the Colwyn Bay FC wishes them well with where ever football takes them next.”
Thornton arrived at the Four Crosses Arena from Glossop North End in December 2018 and made a total of 45 appearances for the club.
He scored twice for the Bay last term in a 4-1 win over Market Drayton and also netted in a defeat to Radcliffe Borough.
Russell started his playing career with Manchester City’s youth system and went on to skipper Glossop North End. He has also enjoyed spells at Curzon Ashton, Mossley, Radcliffe Borough and Runcorn Linnets.
The 32-year-old made 29 appearances for the Seagulls’ during their first season back in the Welsh pyramid. He lost his place in the starting line-up shortly before the fixture suspension, with his last five games coming as a substitute.
