A NUMBER of Rhuddlan Town players have received recognition for their outstanding efforts throughout the season so far.

No fewer than five members of Wayne Hughes’ squad were voted into the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division Team of the Season thanks to their sterling efforts.

The unofficial team came following a public vote on the league’s Facebook group, which was organised by Llandudno Athletic manager Rhys Lane.

Town players formed three positions in the back four, with energetic left-back Josh Parry, commanding centre half Liam Handy and attacking right-back Conor Bucknall all selected to the side.

The ultra-consistent Mathew Beach was also voted to the squad in central midfield and rounding off the Rhuddlan inclusions was prolific striker Jay Whitehouse.

Two from Llandudno Athletic were named to the side in the form of midfielders Lee Stokes and Nathan Williams, with Llanfairfechan Town duo Curtis Murray and Ryan Dodd also selected.

Barry Ecclestone was chosen as the goalkeeper, and Llanelwy Athletic marksman Ste Kirk rounded off the players chosen to the side.

Rhuddlan Town were within touching distance of securing the crown before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The likes of Llanfairfechan, Abergele and Llansannan will be looking to capitalise on any slip-up from the long-time pacesetters whenever competitive action gets back underway.

There is still a chance that both Vale of Clwyd and Conwy Leagues sill be cancelled and all results expunged, with little focus being given to this particular tier by governing body.
