COLWYN Bay midfielder Sion Edwards does not hold out much hope for the domestic season resuming due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The talented winger arrived at the Four Crosses Arena from Porthmadog last summer and has played a pivotal role in the Seagulls’ fine first campaign back in the Welsh pyramid system.

Edwards, who also has European experience during his time with Bangor City, is sceptical that competitive action can resume by the Football Association of Wales’ provisional date of June 2 given the current situation surrounding Covid-19.

He said: "It would be nice to finish the season, but I can't see us getting back playing by the date suggested by the FAW.

“If we can't start playing by then I would say start afresh in August and forget about the current campaign.

"It is a difficult one, I know, but as Prestatyn Town can't go up at the moment, I would personally say declare the season null and void.

“If Prestatyn should win their appeal (set for legal action), then it is fair for them to go up, but everyone has their own views and it is impossible to please everybody."

Edwards has made 25 appearances for Craig Hogg’s side so far this term and is also not a fan of any football resuming behind closed doors at the professional level.

"I wouldn't like to watch that as atmosphere and fans make football what it is,” he added.

“But if it means the league can be finished safely then so be it. As a Manchester United fan, however, I'd rather see the Premier League made null and void because watching Liverpool win the title would be hard to take."
