THE FOOTBALL Association are implementing promotion and relegation into their final outcome for the 2019/20 season.

The Journal understands that clubs across the country were informed of the move on Tuesday afternoon, with a formal announcement expected in due course.

This also means that the JD Cymru Premier will remain a 12-team league, which will now include Flint Town United and Haverfordwest County.

Airbus UK Broughton will be relegated following one season in the top-flight, and Carmarthen Town will also bow out.

The promotion and relegation will be implemented across all divisions, which means that Holywell Town and Holyhead Hotspur will take their place in JD Cymru North.

Porthmadog will be demoted to the third-tier along with Corwen and Llanfair United.

This is something that is expected to be met with derision by some sections of the Welsh domestic game, and the announcement comes after the FAW decided to curtail the season due to the lingering concerns surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.
