CONWY Borough have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of prolific striker Meilir Williams.

The Tangerines’ swooped for the forward in the latest change to their squad under new manager Matthew Jones, with Williams recently turning out for Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs in Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two.

Jones, said: “I’m very pleased that Meilir will be joining the group. I have been monitoring Meilir for a while, with him having some very good seasons in the Welsh Alliance and now is the right time for him to make the step up and prove himself in the Cymru North.

“I worked with Meilir when he was an Under 19 player at Bala Town and he is exactly the sort of player and character we are looking for.”

Williams also enjoyed a hugely successful spell at Penrhyndeudraeth before his move back to the Quarrymen last summer, and he will now get the opportunity to make the step up to JD Cymru North after a strong record at third and fourth-tier level.

He came through the youth ranks at Bala Town and netted 15 of Blaenau’s 33 league goals last term.

The new arrival at Y Morfa, added: “I’m really happy to be joining a very good squad of players at Conwy.

“They did very well in the league last season so I hope I can add something from my game to the team.

“I am looking forward to working with the coaches and try to prove myself in the Cymru North. Hopefully, we can get back out on the pitch as soon as it is safe to do so.”
