CONWY Borough have taken a giant leap in their intention to form a reserve team next season.
The Tangerines confirmed that the duo of Nathan Parker and Sam Baker have been appointed manager and assistant boss respectively for the re-established reserve side, which is set to officially return to the domestic scene when competitive action gets back underway.
Parker is currently updating his FAW C coaching certificate and has recent experience at Penrhyn Bay FC and Colwyn Bay Academy.
He will be supported in his new role by Baker, who is an FA Level 1 Coach with playing experience at Curzon Ashton, Stockport County, Halifax Town and Cefn Druids.
Andy Nelson, club director at Conwy Borough, said: “When the club decided to re-establish its reserve team it was important to identify a management team that shared the club’s vision to develop young local players.
“In Nathan and Sam I feel that we have appointed two excellent candidates. They will be arranging open trials as soon as the lockdown restrictions permit.
“I am personally delighted that we are creating a pathway that will allow players to transition to the first team and having spoken to Matty (Jones), he is fully supportive.”
Details of reserve team trials at Y Morfa will be announced at a later date, with the club awaiting guidance from the Football Association of Wales as to when training will be permitted once again following the coronavirus pandemic.
