CONWY’s outstanding start to the summer continued with a commanding eight-wicket home win over Bethesda.

The North Wales Cricket League Group A side moved into third spot with their latest triumph, which was their most comfortable of the campaign to dat.

Things got off to a perfect start for the home side during their time in the field, and this is a trend that continued throughout the innings thanks to some consistent bowling that put the Pesda batsmen constantly under pressure.

Jonathan Williams (37) and Ion Roberts were the only two players to make a score of note, with the visitors mustering just 129 all out from their 33 overs in the middle.

Conwy’s Graham Boase was in ruthless mood throughout his eight-over spell on his way to figures of 4-21, and Graham Meredith also aided his side’s cause significantly with three wickets for the loss of 20 runs.

Despite losing Philip Michael Davies (4) and Gareth Thomas (8) early on, the hosts managed to secure their required target in comfortable fashion due to a superb partnership from opener Anthony Thorp and Jonathon James Davies.

The duo were in fantastic form throughout to both finish the day unbeaten, with Thorp leading from the front with 64 not out to ensure he was at the crease from start to finish.

He was ably assisted at the other end by Jonathon James Davies, who smashed eight boundaries on his way to a 41 not out score, giving Conwy another notable scalp against their fellow newly promoted side.
