A DISMAL batting performance condemned Llandudno 2nds to a 44-run home loss to Pwllheli.

The young Lions were unable to make the most out of an encouraging display in the field which restricted the visitors to 128 all out from 37.2 overs in the middle.

Hannah Thornton got the hosts off to a flyer with the wickets of opening duo Dylan Williams (2) and Thea Williams (1) on her way to final figures of 2-10 from a five-over spell.

Another Llandudno bowler to stand out was Charlie Russell, who claimed the scalps of Rakesh Babu Botla (15), Jayakanth Zupudi (0), Thomas Kerry (0) and Pwll’ skipper Neil Williams (23) to finish an exceptional spell on 4-16.

Sam Halls looked set for a big score before he was clean bowled by Todd Frith on 25, and Gareth Rhys Morgan’s 19 not out late on also proved to be a valuable contribution.

Sadly for the home side, they were unable to reach this modest run total during their time in the middle, making just 84 all out from 32 overs.

Only Hari Lambe (17) and Frith (12) made it into double-figures for the Lions, with Lloyd Gillat and Thornton making nine apiece.

Zupudi was the pick of the visiting bowling attack, claiming three wickets for the loss of just three runs, with Osian Williams also taking a trio of victims at the expense of seven.
