CONWY Borough manager Matthew Jones has received another welcome boost with the news Dafydd Jones has extending his stay at the club.

The talented young midfielder enjoyed a fine first campaign with the Tangerines, producing a number of eye-catching displays to play a leading role in the club securing a top-six finish in JD Cymru North last term.

The Borough boss has worked exceptionally hard convincing senior squad members to stay on at Y Morfa after he replaced Chris Morrell as boss immediately following the Football Association’s decision to curtail the season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Darren Griffiths, club director at Conwy Borough, said: “Daf is a very talented young player and we are thrilled that he will be with us next season.

“We are looking forward to seeing him on the pitch once we get the green light to start again.”

Jones joins the likes of prolific striker Corrig McGonigle, gifted midfielder Sean McCaffrey and club captain Iolo Hughes in re-committing to the set-up, and Borough’s chances also received a boost with some new signings that could be influential from the off.

Goalkeeper Rory Crowther and Tommy Creamer joined the club earlier this summer from the wound-up Rhyl FC, and defender Anthony Hughes opted to follow Jones to Conwy from Llandudno.

Things are also progressing well with the club’s reserve side, who were allocated a place in the new FAW Reserve North West League next season.

Manager Nathan Parker is still looking for some additional reinforcements to his squad, and anyone interested should contact 07884 019445 or email conwyborough@outlook.com to book your place at training in accordance with FAW guidelines.
