A FINE performance from Colwyn Bay saw them come away from their trip to Northop Hall with a seven-wicket triumph.

The Liverpool and District Competition side emerged from their latest friendly fixture with minimal fuss following a polished display on both sides of the ball against their nearby rivals.

The visitors got off to a good start with the ball when Ryan Holtby removed opener Jac Kennedy for four, and Ryan Westwell also got in on the act early on with the prized scalp of Alex Smith (7).

Skipper Michael Barnes was clean bowled by Kieron New after making 20, but a strong partnership from Joshua (50) and Alistair Andrady (51) got the hosts back on the front foot.

Both managed to reach their half-centuries before falling victim to Westwell and Paul Jenkins respectively, and another double-figure score from wicketkeeper Ben Smith (17) enabled the home side to end their allotted overs on 183-8.

Westwell was the pick of the visiting bowling attack, finishing a superb eight-over spell with figures of 4-44.

The all-rounder was not able to replicate this during his time in the middle and was dismissed for 18 at the hands of Simon Joy, but a formidable partnership from opener Sion Morris and Bay captain George Johansen put them in pole position.

Morris demonstrated his outstanding shot selection on his way to an impressive 75, and Johansen also continued his recent good form with an unbeaten score of 61 that also included 11 boundaries.

This proved to be the difference between the two sides, and despite losing Adam Campion cheaply (4), the Bay reached their required run target with 8.2 overs to spare.
